Opportunity Youth at Work

Launched in August 2015, the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative is the nation’s largest employer-led coalition focused on supporting opportunity youth—16-24 year olds who are out of work and not in school—by connecting youth to employment pathways while helping companies innovate new business practices to better hire, retain, and advance opportunity youth. FSG’s broad range of support for the Initiative includes designing and stewarding the learning community; providing strategic oversight for the Initiative; collecting and synthesizing data that tracks the Initiative’s progress; and sharing lessons learned to promote best practices in the broader corporate sector.

Earlier this year, the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative hosted their fourth Opportunity Fair & Forum in Seattle, where 1,500 young people interviewed for jobs, accessed career resources, worked on their resumes, and received direct mentoring or coaching. The day of the fair, participating companies extended over 700 immediate job offers.
