Melissa brings 10 years of experience advising foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and collaboratives on many issues. Her interests are focused on collective impact, US health, and community philanthropy.
Role at FSG
Melissa has deep collective impact expertise, helping collaborative efforts work together in new ways to solve complex social problems. She helped establish an initiative in Dallas comprised of over 100 organizations working together to prevent and reduce childhood obesity. Melissa spent over a year in Douglas County, NE, to start a collective impact effort for juvenile justice.
Melissa also has experience advising foundations in New England on health-related issues ranging from the social determinants of health to the opioid crisis to healthy aging. Melissa spent a year working in India, where she led the development of a shared value strategy for a global pharmaceutical company’s Indian affiliate to increase access to insulin among low-income diabetes patients. Melissa also brings a unique perspective to the community philanthropy focus area based on her previous experience working with community foundations through CF Insights.
Before coming to FSG, Melissa worked at Marketing and Planning Systems (MaPS), performing market research and analysis for Fortune 100 companies. While in business school, Melissa worked with Ashoka’s Housing for All initiative to scale affordable housing solutions across India. She has also worked with the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA) to execute the first benchmarking study of trends in the venture philanthropy landscape in Europe. Melissa also brings over two years’ experience as Program Manager in FSG’s CF Insights division to her consulting role, where she focused on issues of sustainability in both consulting engagements to individual foundations as well as field-building activities.
