Victor Tavarez is a social impact strategist with more than a decade of experience working with foundations, businesses, public-sector organizations, and community organizations to develop strategies that advance social and economic opportunity. His work has spanned health, housing, education, workforce development, economic mobility, and community well-being, with a focus on understanding the systems and conditions that shape outcomes and identifying opportunities for meaningful change. Victor has experience across the strategy development process, from conducting research and engaging communities to developing recommendations, facilitating alignment across diverse stakeholders, supporting implementation, and evaluating impact.
He is particularly interested in helping people access equitable opportunities to lead healthy and fulfilling lives, and in the role that workforce systems can play in creating those opportunities. His perspective is also informed by personal experience with philanthropic and community-based initiatives, which has given him a firsthand appreciation for the ways these investments can expand opportunity and improve people’s lives.
Before FSG
Prior to returning to FSG, Victor served as Program Director of CAMBA’s Learning to Work program, where he led a workforce readiness program serving at-risk youth. He worked with employers, schools, and community organizations to expand access to internships, mentorship, credentialing, and career opportunities, while managing a team and programmatic budget. Before CAMBA, Victor was an Impact Advisor with Boldly Go Philanthropy, where he supported leanly staffed philanthropic institutions in developing grantmaking and investment strategies across workforce development, public health, and community development.
Earlier in his career at FSG, Victor partnered with foundations, nonprofits, government agencies, and corporate leaders on community needs assessments, strategic planning, research, and cross-sector initiatives. He conducted more than 100 interviews and facilitated focus groups, workshops, and learning communities to bring diverse perspectives and lived experiences into strategy and decision-making.
