Growing Livelihood Opportunities for Women
Unconscious Gender Bias Training for Recruiters
A training to help recruiters identify and address unconscious gender bias in hiring to drive business improvement

Most recruiters’ hiring decisions are affected by their unconscious gender biases. Due to these biases, recruiters often unknowingly assume women lack the ability (e.g., women cannot lift parcels), feasibility (e.g., women cannot travel to work), and willingness (e.g., married women do not want to work) to work in non-traditional roles. These unconscious gender biases negatively impact men (e.g., higher burden of overtime/ night shifts), women (e.g., lower motivation), and the overall business (e.g., limits the hiring pool).
The training helps recruiters to:
- Recognize the negative impact of unconscious gender bias in hiring on the business and employees
- Identify and reflect on their own unconscious biases that may affect hiring decisions
- Discover solutions to address common biases about women’s ability, feasibility and willingness to work in non-traditional roles
- Check for gender bias by using a 4-point checklist (e.g., “Is my decision based on data?”)
