Shared Value Initiative
FSG’s Shared Value Initiative will bring together leaders from companies, civil society, and governments to build a strong and engaged global community around shared value knowledge and practice. We will provide opportunities for thought leadership, interactive discussion, learning, and research on shared value as a promising approach for simultaneously creating business value while addressing complex social problems. The Initiative is guided by a leadership council, comprised of a select group of leading shared value companies and organizations.
The Shared Value Initiative’s goals are to help business leaders advance the knowledge and practice of shared value and to increase and support the adoption of and engagement with shared value strategies by organizations around the world.
To promote shared value for the broad benefit of companies, governments, and civil society, the Shared Value Initiative will pursue its goals through these initial activities:
- Knowledge Development and Exchange – Complete rigorous research to help make the case for shared value in business and illuminate methods to implement the shared value change management process effectively. Examples may include shared value case studies, industry or sector briefs, reports and white papers, webinars, videos, etc. We will also engage a leadership council to join in the development and exchange of ideas and best practices.
- Tools and Materials – Develop of the tools needed for shared value implementation and corporate decision support such as measurement standards, diagnostic tools, and other educational materials.
- Communities of Practice – Create virtual and live opportunities for shared value practitioners such as a practitioner community, an academic network, international conferences and events, and more. Look for the launch of sharedvalue.org in May 2013.
- Global Shared Value Leadership Summit – In its third year, the Summit has proven to be the leading annual gathering focused exclusively on the emerging community of shared value practitioners from companies, nonprofits, and governments. This invitation-only event will provide an interactive forum for engaging with 200 global practitioners as members of the new community. Confirmed attendees span 20 countries.
