At FSG's Shared Value Leadership Summit in May, FSG asked four senior leaders to discuss their perspectives on shared value. The results were conversations offering distinct viewpoints on shared value’s role at each organization, as well as in broader society. Because of its significant impact on the environment and the communities in which it operates, the forestry industry is ripe for shared value. In the third of four videos, Charles Kimber of Arauco discusses how shared value can play a role in his industry.
In the interview Charles Kimber, Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at Arauco, highlights some of the early progress Arauco has made in adopting shared value. Charles emphasizes the importance of the company’s link with the communities in which it operates: “We need society in order to grow. We need to have healthy communities in order to develop our business.” He also highlights the role shared value could play in creating a productive and sustainable workforce: “It is ever more important to have access to good, quality labor, to improve the productivity of our processes… [When we read the papers on shared value], we said Bingo! This makes sense.” Watch the short video to find out how Arauco is using shared value to improve its productivity.
