The James Irvine Foundation

The James Irvine Foundation seeks to expand opportunity for the people of California to participate in a vibrant, successful, and inclusive society. The Foundation's work focuses enhancing the educational and economic prospects of low-income Californians, enhancing civic and cultural engagement, fostering mutual understanding and enriching California's intellectual and creative environment.

FSG has also helped the Irvine Foundation's Community Foundations Initiative in the following manner:

• FSG supported the ongoing learning from a five-year effort focused on enabling smaller and more rural California community foundations to accelerate growth and strengthen philanthropic and community leadership. FSG served as the evaluator, defining goals, tracking progress, and facilitating learning opportunities
• FSG provided technical assistance and analytically-based recommendations for enhanced sustainability to nine emerging foundations serving rural communities. FSG promoted a discussion of common operating model challenges, and identified opportunities for sustainable growth across the field of community foundations
