International Trachoma Initiative

Founded in 1998 by the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation and Pfizer, Inc., the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) is dedicated to the elimination of blinding trachoma, the world's leading cause of preventable blindness.

FSG has helped the International Trachoma Initiative to:

  • Understand and address the challenges associated with the global scale-up of a disease elimination program. As part of this effort, FSG developed:
    • A five-year strategic plan to better position the organization to reach its goal of eliminating trachoma that took into consideration ITI's partners, potential funders and global trends in large-scale health interventions; and
    • A detailed one-year implementation plan

As a result of FSG's work, ITI is exploring new partnerships to improve the sustainability of the global effort.
