A member of the World Bank Group, International Finance Corporation (IFC) supports private sector development in low-income and emerging markets by investing and by providing advisory services that develop the private sector across a range of industries. With more than 3,400 staff, IFC’s investment portfolio was worth over $34 billion across 122 countries in 2008.
FSG worked with IFC’s Corporate Advice department to:
- Conduct a review of a range of products and services in the corporate advice portfolio
- Collect and synthesize internal and external feedback to help enhance the effectiveness of advisory services
- Provide recommendations to increase the strategic coherence of the overall portfolio and improve performance and impact measurement
- Conduct research on current engagement by the private sector in smallholder development, as well as to provide recommendations on new opportunities for palm oil companies to support smallholder livelihoods
