Overview

David comes to FSG with a diverse background of for-profit management consulting and best practice research, in addition to nonprofit experience as an ESL teacher, board member, and consultant to a school district. David’s primary interests lie in education reform, creating shared value, and leadership development.

Role at FSG

As a proud member of the consulting team, David is currently working with a large global company to help plan their signature shared value initiative. He is excited to contribute to projects across FSG’s impact areas, especially within Education & Youth. David is also enthusiastic about helping FSG continually improve the way it operates internally.

Before FSG

Prior to joining FSG, David worked as an Associate Director of Data Analysis and Tools at the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), a management best practice research and executive education firm in Washington, DC. At CEB, David managed and evolved a suite of business support tools for clients (mostly finance executives at Fortune 500 companies). David owned projects ranging from authoring a flagship white paper series on emerging business risks to managing a comprehensive budget benchmarking tool for clients. Concurrently, David volunteered much of his time at Language ETC, an English school for adult immigrants, as an ESL teacher, and later served on the Board of Directors.

While attending the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, David committed himself to enhancing the student experience by being actively involved as a Leadership Fellow in the Fuqua/Coach K Center on Leadership & Ethics. In addition, he developed a strategic plan for students pursuing nontraditional business careers and created an initiative to help students recognize and act upon symptoms of stress. Also during his time at Fuqua, David worked as an Education Pioneer Fellow with the San Francisco Unified School District to design school and area-level management dashboards to be used by superintendents and principals.

On Working at FSG

"What I appreciate most about FSG is the diversity of our team’s backgrounds, and my colleagues’ willingness to express their core beliefs with one another. I firmly believe that listening to different points of view (and values) is crucial when tackling extraordinarily complex problems. At the same time, I find that the FSG team approaches client engagements as true partners who listen intently to the client needs and then work collaboratively to find the best solution. In all of my experiences – as a researcher, teacher, teammate, consultant, and student – my most satisfying experiences come when there is a shared commitment to a goal greater than the individual. I am humbled to be able to work with colleagues and clients who are trying to improve the world around them; to me, being part of a great team is the most important thing."
